Hi! My name is Kenzie and I'm the author of this little blog, Life According to Kenz. I am so happy you're here.

Writing has always been a big part of my life. I was the little girl who carried around a journal constantly and kept a diary for most of my childhood. And so, when my family lost our home in a house fire on my 11th birthday - writing became my way of letting everything out and making sense of what was happening around me.

Fast forward to the summer of 2011... After almost a year of unexplained weight loss, multiple heat strokes, and excruciating pain in my joints, I was officially diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic enthesitis related arthritis. Preceding that, I fought my battle with kidney stones. I hit rock bottom and again, turned to writing to see me through.

About a month later, just days before my 16th birthday, my Aunt Mabel {who I was extremely close with} passed away unexpectedly after suffering a stroke. I was angry, hurt, devastated, and needed to let my feelings out. Following the loss of her, I wrote one of my first posts about losing her and I shared the heartfelt eulogy I wrote and shared at her memorial service. You can read that post HERE. 

I've come a long way since then. I've laughed a lot. I've cried a lot. I've fallen in love with the children I nanny. I've figured out what God has called me to do and who He's called me to be. The pain, memories, and experiences I've faced have helped me to grow in faith more than words will ever say and I've found an incredible way to share my adoration for writing... This blog! 

I don't know how you got here, but I pray that while you visit, you're encouraged and inspired. God has blessed me with so much more than I will ever deserve and I want this blog to serve as a place that represents that. Even through the storm, He is good.
